Really? Another marketing book?
Everyone says their marketing book will be different than the rest. Allow me to step up on my soap box.
I’ll be the first one to agree that there are a lot of marketing books out there.
I’ve personally read a good number of them. Some good, a few really good, and many not so great.
So why in the world would I toss another marketing book into the mix for the world to judge?
I think one big reason is: I’m not a marketer.
I have no agenda.
I’m not writing this book series to sell a marketing course or send readers to my sales funnel.
I genuinely care about the success of the restaurant industry.
Why?
I’ve been writing for and about the restaurant industry since 2007.
Until I entered this industry I had never met such down-to-earth people who had so much passion for their businesses.
Prior to 2007, my resume was a laundry list of industries (beauty, insurance, internet). I had a personal rule that I would move up in a company and then move on to a new job every two years.
That all changed when I started writing for this industry.
Once I started, I was hooked.
So, Why Marketing?
Over the years, I’ve written about topics ranging from technology to food trends to equipment. But, my favorite topic has always been restaurant marketing.
I’ve always been fascinated by the creative tactics restaurant owners use to bring customers through their doors. Plus, ask any great restaurant marketer and they’ll usually say they do “zero marketing.”
When I started thinking about writing another book, I wanted a topic that I was passionate about, that had endless information, and one where I could include interesting interviews and examples.
Here we are.
Why a series of books?
Because I know that restaurant operators need books that are:
A quick read
Actionable
Provide valuable tips with ROI
I’m hoping to provide timeless tips and advice that operators can turn to again and again when they need a marketing or promotional boost.
What’s Next
I’ve been working on my outline for the first book and researching who to contact for interviews.
Stay tuned for future posts where I’ll be sourcing topic experts and marketing examples.
The plan is to release a new update like this each Friday.
Thanks for following along!
